Thanksgiving

Today we started with four small ponies in the front of her hair.

Each of those ponies was then braided.

I then made two messy buns with the remaining hair, I added the braids to the buns.

I thought it would be fun to weave the four braids, so both braids on the LEFT went to the bun on the RIGHT.

Both braids from the RIGHT went to the bun on the LEFT.

However, when I brought them to the opposite side, I made sure I wove the braids under then over the braids theat crossed it path on the way to the bun (I hope that made sense)

I ended with two big flowers!

twists and braids

Today we did some twists and braids!

We started with two small piggies in the front of her hair.

We then added twists, if you dont know how to make twists with out having them unravel, here is the secret.

1. Divide the hair into two sections.
2.twist the sections in the same direction, for example take the section of hair and twist it to the LEFT. take the other section of hair and also twist it to the LEFT.
3. take both twisted sections of hair and twist them together going in the opposite direction. So take the two sections of hair that have been twisted to the LEFT and combine them together twisting the two sections to the RIGHT.

For some reason the opposite twists of the hair keep the twists from falling out, so you can easily do a twist instead of a braid.

I then had Joely hold the twisted hair while I prapared two piggie tails in the back with the remaining hair.

Before I added the elastic on the large piggie tail, I added the twisted hair from the mini piggie on the opposit side.

After doing this to both sides, I completed the piggies with braids. I liked the idea of combining the twists and braids instead of ending with twists. However, if you wanted to end with twists, I think it would look cute if you added three twists from each piggie tail!

Dorthy twist and messy bun

When ever I do this particular twist in Joely's hair I am always reminded of Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz.

I've wondered what this twist is called, but I have no idea. I do know it was easy and it stayed in great all day, sometimes we don't get so lucky.

Start with the hair parted down the middle and choose which side you want to begin with. I started with the right side, I began by taking the front section of the hair and divided it into two section, each time I twisted the hair I gathered a little more hair to add to it...like doing a french braid but only using two sections instead of three.

When I started doing the other side I made sure to secure the first side with a ponytail holder (that would later get removed)

When both sides were twisted I combinded them and made a messy bun then finished it with a large flower.

The other picture is of Joelys bracelet we made to match the outfit she was wearing... a girls gotta have her jewelry.... right?

Braided piggies

Okay, this one turned out better then I was expecting...I love when that happens!

We started out by doing a small section of hair in the front and we dramatically parted it on the left side.

We brought it over the right side and added an elastic (see front photo)
We got side part pony idea from one of her Brat's dolls. We take ideas anywhere we can!

Then we parted the remaining hair right down the middle and made two piggie tails. Add elastics. Make sure you add the hair from the little front pony into the right side piggie.

From the hair in each piggie tail I made 5 small braids and added small elastics to the bottom.

Finally, I took the braids and looped them up the top of the piggie and secured it with a streamer bow.

It turned out pretty cute!

mini cross over

Today we did an easy hairstyle, that I think just turned out super cute! I always like to add a little something extra instead of just doing a pony tail..so here is what we did today.

We made two little piggies in the front of her hair, and added elastics.

We then made two more little piggies directly behind the original two, before adding the next elastics though I added the hair from the opposit side- this way there was a little criss cross.

Finally I pulled up the remaining hair into a messy bun and added the cute little streamer bow we made last night!

Braided Climbers

I was so excited to come back home and do Joelys hair again, being in SLC with only boys doesn't allow for much creativity!

Today we did climbers.
Start with two little piggies at the base of the neck, attach elastics and braid.
Next add two more piggies above the first two, criss cross the braids to add to the piggies on the opposit side. Attach elastics, then brad again.
Then gather the remaining hair and bring to a pony tail at the crown of the head, add braids to the pony tail and add an elastic.
We then took a section of the hair from the ponytail, braided and wrapped it around the ponytail holder, securing it with bobypins to make a bun.
The remaining hair we braided at looped downwards securing it also with bobbypins, and we were done!

Gone for a few days

Joely is at a friends house for a few days while we are in SLC, so we wont post for a few days. I actually have some pictures on my camera, but the hair styles just didn't turn out well. I hate when the idea is so much better in my head. Oh well.

Hermione Granger

Joely was Hermoine Granger from Harry Potter for Halloween. So the night before we put her hair in braids, the next morning all we has to do is brush them out to give Haermione her frizzy hair...Looking cute sweetie!
